Welcome to the Cordaie Paralegal Services website.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Discount Divorce Ontario website, including its content, eligibility tools, intake forms, contact forms, document-upload features, and other website features.
This website is operated by Cordaie Paralegal Services (“Cordaie,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Discount Divorce Ontario (“DDO”) is a service and website operated by Cordaie Paralegal Services and is not a separate legal practice or entity.
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the website.
1. Cordaie Paralegal Services
Cordaie Paralegal Services is an Ontario paralegal practice.
Legal services are provided by Cordaie within the scope of services that Cordaie and its licensed professionals are authorized and agree to provide.
Where a paralegal-client relationship is established, the professional relationship is governed by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement, Cordaie’s professional obligations, and applicable law.
If there is an inconsistency between these website Terms and a signed retainer or engagement agreement concerning legal services provided to a client, the retainer or engagement agreement will govern with respect to those legal services.
2. General Website Information
Information available on this website is provided for general informational and educational purposes and to explain legal services offered by Cordaie Paralegal Services.
Website content is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as legal advice concerning your particular circumstances.
Legal matters depend on their specific facts and circumstances. Information appearing on this website may not apply to your situation.
You should obtain advice concerning your own circumstances where appropriate.
3. No Paralegal-Client Relationship From Website Use
Visiting this website does not create a paralegal-client relationship.
A paralegal-client relationship is also not created merely because you:
Complete an eligibility questionnaire;
Submit a contact form;
Complete or partially complete an intake form;
Upload documents;
Send Cordaie an email;
Send a text message or other electronic communication;
Speak with Cordaie by telephone;
Participate in a video meeting;
Use a website chat or automated feature, if one is introduced; or
Otherwise communicate with Cordaie.
Cordaie is retained only after Cordaie has agreed to act and the applicable onboarding and retainer requirements have been completed.
These requirements may include a conflict check, identity verification, execution of a retainer or engagement agreement, and payment of any required retainer, deposit, or fee.
Until Cordaie confirms that it has agreed to act for you, you should not assume that Cordaie represents you, is protecting your interests, or is responsible for any limitation period, filing deadline, court date, response deadline, or other legal obligation affecting you.
4. Eligibility and Screening Tools
Cordaie may provide online eligibility questionnaires, screening tools, contact forms, or intake questionnaires for certain legal services.
These tools are intended to help Cordaie obtain preliminary information and assess whether a particular service may potentially be appropriate.
The result of an eligibility or screening tool:
Is preliminary;
Is not legal advice;
Does not constitute a legal opinion;
Does not guarantee that Cordaie will accept your matter;
Does not guarantee that you qualify for a particular service; and
Does not create a paralegal-client relationship.
Eligibility or suitability may not be confirmed until Cordaie has reviewed the information and documentation relevant to the matter.
Cordaie may decline a matter or determine that a different service is required even where an online questionnaire initially indicates that a person may be eligible.
5. Legal Services
Cordaie provides legal services only in areas in which it is authorized and agrees to accept matters.
The availability and scope of a particular service depend on the client's circumstances, applicable law, Cordaie's professional obligations, and the terms of the applicable retainer or engagement agreement.
Information on this website describing a legal service does not guarantee that Cordaie will accept or continue a particular matter.
A matter may require additional services, a different retainer, additional fees or disbursements, or assistance from another legal professional.
Cordaie may decline to accept a matter where appropriate, including where a conflict of interest exists, the matter falls outside the services offered, the matter falls outside the authorized scope of practice, professional obligations prevent Cordaie from acting, or Cordaie otherwise determines that it cannot accept the matter.
6. Fees
Legal fees vary depending on the service and matter.
Where a flat fee or other fee is advertised on this website, that fee applies only to the service and circumstances described.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, advertised legal fees do not include HST, court or tribunal fees, process-server fees, filing fees, certificate fees, document-retrieval expenses, courier or delivery expenses, search fees, third-party expenses, or other applicable disbursements.
For example, the advertised Discount Divorce Ontario flat fee applies only to eligible matters within the scope described for that service.
A client's actual fees, taxes, disbursements, payment requirements, and scope of services will be governed by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement.
If circumstances change or additional work becomes necessary, additional fees or a different retainer may be required.
7. Disbursements and Third-Party Expenses
Depending on the matter, additional expenses may include:
Court or tribunal filing fees;
Process-server fees;
Court-filing service fees;
Certificate fees;
Document-retrieval costs;
Search fees;
Courier or delivery expenses;
Government charges;
Other third-party expenses; and
Other expenses reasonably required to complete the matter.
The nature and amount of disbursements vary by matter.
Cordaie does not control fees charged by courts, tribunals, government bodies, process servers, couriers, or other third parties, and those fees may change.
Unless expressly included in the applicable retainer or engagement agreement, third-party expenses and disbursements are the client's responsibility.
8. Payments
Cordaie may accept payment through approved payment methods, which may include:
Interac e-Transfer;
Credit card through LawPay; and
Cheque.
Credit-card payments may be processed by LawPay or another authorized third-party payment processor.
Third-party payment processing is subject to the applicable provider's terms, policies, privacy practices, and security procedures.
PracticePanther may be used to issue invoices or payment requests.
Cordaie may send payment reminders concerning outstanding amounts.
Payment does not necessarily mean that Cordaie has accepted a matter. A paralegal-client relationship is established only after Cordaie has agreed to act and the applicable onboarding and retainer requirements have been completed.
Fees, payment schedules, refunds, trust arrangements where applicable, and other payment obligations relating to an accepted matter are governed by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement and applicable professional requirements.
9. Information You Provide
You agree that information you provide through this website or in connection with a potential or existing matter will, to the best of your knowledge, be accurate, complete, and not intentionally misleading.
You are responsible for informing Cordaie of material changes to information you have provided.
Cordaie may rely on information and documents provided by you when assessing, preparing, filing, or otherwise working on a matter.
Incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or omitted information may:
Delay a matter;
Require documents to be corrected or refiled;
Increase costs;
Affect eligibility for a particular service;
Affect legal strategy or available options;
Affect a court or tribunal proceeding; or
Prevent Cordaie from continuing to act.
You should promptly tell Cordaie if you discover that information or documents previously provided are incorrect or incomplete.
10. Document Uploads and Electronic Signatures
Certain website forms, intake processes, client portals, or other services may allow you to upload documents relevant to your matter.
You should upload only documents reasonably relevant to your matter or specifically requested by Cordaie.
Do not provide your Social Insurance Number or other unnecessary highly sensitive information unless Cordaie specifically requests it and explains why it is required.
Identity verification may be conducted separately through Cordaie's designated identity-verification process.
Cordaie may use electronic-signature platforms, including PandaDoc, to obtain signatures or complete document workflows. Historical documents or records may also remain associated with electronic-signature providers previously used by Cordaie.
Electronic signatures may have legal effect. You are responsible for reviewing documents before signing them and should contact Cordaie if you do not understand a document you are being asked to sign.
Documents may also be requested, uploaded, exchanged, or stored through other approved systems, including the secure client portal.
11. Courts, Tribunals and Other Decision-Makers
Cordaie cannot guarantee:
That a court or tribunal will accept any particular document or filing;
That an application, claim, defence, motion, or other request will be successful;
The date on which a court or tribunal will process a filing;
The date on which a decision, judgment, order, endorsement, certificate, or other document will be issued;
The time required for a court, tribunal, government body, or other third party to respond;
The outcome of a proceeding;
The decision of a judge, justice, adjudicator, registrar, clerk, or other decision-maker; or
That additional information, documents, appearances, filings, fees, or procedural steps will not be required.
Court and tribunal schedules, procedures, processing times, administrative practices, and decisions are outside Cordaie's control.
Where a court, tribunal, government body, or other authority requests corrections, additional information, further documentation, additional fees, or additional procedural steps, those requirements may need to be completed before a matter can proceed.
12. No Guaranteed Outcome
Nothing on this website constitutes a promise or guarantee of a particular legal result.
Cordaie does not guarantee that:
A divorce or other order will be granted;
A particular legal position will succeed;
A matter will be completed within a particular period;
A court or tribunal will accept a particular filing;
A third party will cooperate;
A matter will remain uncontested; or
Circumstances will not arise that require additional work, services, fees, or professional assistance.
Statements describing services, processes, previous matters, client experiences, reviews, testimonials, case examples, or expected procedures should not be interpreted as guaranteeing the outcome of your matter.
Every legal matter depends on its individual facts, applicable law, evidence, procedural requirements, and decisions made by courts, tribunals, government bodies, other parties, or other decision-makers.
13. Client Responsibilities
Where Cordaie is retained, clients are responsible for cooperating reasonably with the legal-services process.
Depending on the matter, this may include:
Providing accurate and complete information;
Supplying requested documents;
Completing identity-verification requirements;
Reviewing documents when requested;
Providing signatures, approvals, or instructions when required;
Paying applicable legal fees and disbursements;
Informing Cordaie promptly of changes affecting the matter;
Monitoring communications from Cordaie;
Attending hearings, meetings, examinations, or other proceedings where required; and
Responding to reasonable requests for instructions or information.
Additional responsibilities may be established by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement.
A client's failure to provide instructions, documents, payment, cooperation, or information when reasonably required may delay the matter or affect Cordaie's ability to continue providing services.
14. Electronic Communications
By communicating with Cordaie electronically, you acknowledge that communications may occur through email, telephone, SMS/text messaging, voicemail, the PracticePanther client portal, video conferencing, online forms, electronic-signature platforms, fax or online fax, or other appropriate technologies.
Electronic communications can involve privacy, delivery, and security risks.
Where a secure client portal or another secure method is available, clients may be encouraged to use it for sensitive communications or documents.
Cordaie does not routinely record telephone calls or video meetings.
Appointment confirmations or reminders, payment reminders, administrative messages, and other service-related communications may be sent electronically.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how personal information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed.
15. Third-Party Services
The website and Cordaie's services may use third-party technologies and service providers.
Depending on the service, these may include providers supporting:
Website hosting and forms;
Eligibility and intake questionnaires;
Client-file management;
Secure client portals;
Identity verification;
Electronic signatures;
Payment processing;
Cloud storage;
Email;
Telephone and SMS communications;
Video meetings;
Fax or online fax services;
Analytics;
Advertising measurement;
Process serving;
Court or tribunal filing; and
Other administrative or legal-service functions.
Cordaie does not control every aspect of third-party systems and cannot guarantee that a third-party service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or free from technical problems.
Your direct use of a third-party service may also be subject to that provider's own terms, policies, and privacy practices.
For more information about third-party providers and personal information, please review our Privacy Policy.
16. Website Chat and Automated Features
Cordaie may introduce website chat, automated communication, AI-assisted, or other automated website features from time to time.
Information generated through an automated feature is intended to assist with general information, navigation, screening, or intake and should not be treated as individualized legal advice unless Cordaie expressly confirms otherwise.
Do not rely on an automated website feature for urgent legal matters, court or tribunal deadlines, limitation periods,
or other time-sensitive legal obligations.
Use of a chat, AI-assisted, or automated feature does not itself create a paralegal-client relationship.
Cordaie may change, restrict, suspend, or discontinue automated website features at any time.
17. Website Availability
We try to keep this website and its online services available and functioning properly.
However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
The website or particular features may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical issues, internet outages, third-party service interruptions, security concerns, updates, circumstances beyond our control, or other operational reasons.
You should not rely exclusively on this website for urgent or time-sensitive communications.
If you have an urgent matter or an approaching legal deadline, you should use an appropriate direct communication method and take whatever steps are necessary to protect your legal interests.
18. Website Content and Accuracy
Cordaie makes reasonable efforts to provide useful and current information.
However, laws, regulations, court and tribunal procedures, filing requirements, government fees, forms, policies, administrative practices, and other information may change.
Website content may therefore become outdated despite reasonable efforts to maintain it.
Cordaie may update, modify, remove, or correct website content at any time without notice.
If information on this website differs from current legislation, regulations, court or tribunal rules, official government requirements, professional requirements, or other authoritative legal requirements, the applicable authoritative requirement governs.
Website content should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice concerning your particular circumstances.
19. External Links
This website may contain links to websites, platforms, resources, or services operated by third parties.
External links are provided for convenience or informational purposes.
Cordaie does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, terms of use, or operation.
A link to another website does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of that website, organization, product, service, or content.
You access third-party websites and services at your own discretion and should review their applicable terms and privacy policies.
20. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the website and its original content—including its design, written content, graphics, illustrations, branding, logos, downloadable materials, and other original material—are owned by or licensed to Cordaie Paralegal Services and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You may access and use website content for your personal, non-commercial informational purposes.
Unless permitted by law or authorized by Cordaie, you may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, commercially exploit, modify, copy, scrape, systematically extract, or create derivative works from protected website content.
Nothing in these Terms grants ownership of Cordaie's trademarks, branding, copyrighted material, or other intellectual property.
Third-party names, trademarks, logos, and materials remain the property of their respective owners.
21. Prohibited Use
You may not use this website:
For unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or malicious purposes;
To interfere with the operation, availability, or security of the website;
To attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, servers, information, or restricted areas;
To upload malware, malicious code, or harmful material;
To impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity;
To submit knowingly false, fraudulent, or misleading information;
To scrape, harvest, systematically extract, or collect website content or data without authorization;
To infringe intellectual-property rights or other legal rights;
To interfere with Cordaie's services or another person's use of the website; or
In any manner that violates applicable law.
Cordaie may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to website features where reasonably necessary to protect the website, Cordaie, clients, service providers, or other users.
22. Privacy
Your use of this website is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how Cordaie collects, uses, stores, protects, and discloses personal information.
The Privacy Policy should be read together with these Terms.
Where personal information is submitted through a third-party service, that provider's privacy practices may also apply.
23. Limitation of Website Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Cordaie does not guarantee that this website, its content, or its online features will always be accurate, complete, available, secure, uninterrupted, or free from errors.
Cordaie will not be responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on general website information where individualized legal advice should reasonably have been obtained, or from circumstances outside Cordaie's reasonable control, subject always to applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, waive, or limit any duty, responsibility, professional obligation, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, waived, or limited, including applicable professional obligations owed by Cordaie in connection with legal services Cordaie has agreed to provide.
The rights and obligations relating to legal services provided to an actual client are governed by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement, professional obligations, and applicable law.
24. Changes to Services
Cordaie may change the services promoted through this website, eligibility requirements, pricing, website features, service descriptions, or website content from time to time.
Changes to advertised website pricing or service descriptions do not automatically alter an existing client's contractual fee arrangement or agreed scope of services.
An existing client's fees and scope of services are governed by the applicable retainer or engagement agreement and any subsequent agreement or amendment.
Cordaie may discontinue offering a service to new clients without affecting obligations already undertaken for existing clients, subject to applicable professional obligations and law.
25. Changes to These Terms
Cordaie may update these Terms from time to time.
The current version will be posted on this website with the Last Updated date revised accordingly.
Continued use of the website after revised Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the Terms applicable to subsequent website use, subject to applicable law.
Changes to these website Terms do not automatically amend an existing client's retainer or engagement agreement.
26. Governing Law
These Terms and your use of this website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without limiting any rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
These Terms relate to use of the website.
Any paralegal-client relationship established with Cordaie is also subject to the applicable retainer or engagement agreement, applicable professional obligations, and the laws and requirements governing the provision of those legal services.

Complete an eligibility questionnaire;
Submit a contact form;
Complete or partially complete an intake form;
Upload documents;
Send Cordaie an email;
Send a text message or other electronic communication;
Speak with Cordaie by telephone;
Participate in a video meeting;
Is preliminary;
Is not legal advice;
Does not constitute a legal opinion;
Does not guarantee that Cordaie will accept your matter;
Court or tribunal filing fees;
Process-server fees;
Court-filing service fees;
Certificate fees;
Document-retrieval costs;
Search fees;
Courier or delivery expenses;
Government charges;
Interac e-Transfer;
Delay a matter;
Require documents to be corrected or refiled;
Increase costs;
Affect eligibility for a particular service;
Affect legal strategy or available options;
That a court or tribunal will accept any particular document or filing;
That an application, claim, defence, motion, or other request will be successful;
The date on which a court or tribunal will process a filing;
The date on which a decision, judgment, order, endorsement, certificate, or other document will be issued;
The time required for a court, tribunal, government body, or other third party to respond;
The outcome of a proceeding;
A divorce or other order will be granted;
A particular legal position will succeed;
A matter will be completed within a particular period;
A court or tribunal will accept a particular filing;
A third party will cooperate;
Providing accurate and complete information;
Supplying requested documents;
Completing identity-verification requirements;
Reviewing documents when requested;
Providing signatures, approvals, or instructions when required;
Paying applicable legal fees and disbursements;
Informing Cordaie promptly of changes affecting the matter;
Monitoring communications from Cordaie;
15. Third-Party
Services
The website and Cordaie's services may use third-party technologies and service providers.
Depending on the service, these may include providers supporting:
Website hosting and forms;
Eligibility and intake questionnaires;
Client-file management;
Secure client portals;
Identity verification;
Electronic signatures;
Payment processing;
Cloud storage;
Email;
Telephone and SMS communications;
Video meetings;
Fax or online fax services;
Analytics;
Advertising measurement;
Process serving;
